After reading and analyzing a nonfiction passage about oysters, our Lit Lab students had the opportunity to create their own decoupage oyster shell using beach-themed napkins. Today, they selected an oyster shell, painted it, chose a favorite napkin design, and carefully applied it with Mod Podge. They are excited to put the finishing touches on their projects tomorrow and see their creations come to life! #thinktank

Geometry students researched the history and use of kites and chose which type they wanted to construct. They constructed 2-D kites with dowel rods and plastic paper. Although the kites were sturdy, they did not fly. The second kite constructed was a tetrahedron kite made with straws, strings and tissue paper. All these kites flew. The students determined the perimeter, surface area of each.

This weeks Think Tank started off with students competing to see who could create the slowest maze for a marble to travel without coming to a stop. They then moved into the kitchen for some culinary fun. Where do ice cream makers learn their trade? Sundae school! Mrs. Hernandez鈥檚 Ag Ventures class got hands on experience creating their own ice cream using just a few simple ingredients. With cold hands and lots of shaking it was a real treat! And nothing like ending the day with a little bit of Math Football!

Camp R.O.A.R. week 2 is in full swing, and our Summer Safari adventurers have been having a wild time learning, creating, and exploring! 馃馃馃尶
